Kindred spirits have a way of finding each other. That is certainly true for the people of BuzzWave. Brought together by a love of story, and the storytelling possibilities of digital media, the BuzzWave team is passionate about telling the right stories --- and helping you tell your stories in the most engaging ways possible to create meaningful experiences for your customers.

The BuzzWave team made up of documentary filmmakers, photographers, writers, storytellers, and technologists who have a strong overlay of experience in project management, education, and work with non-profit, progressive organizations.

John Carlson: John studied photography and film at the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York City. He has been an independent producer, director, cameraman, and editor working on educational and promotional films and videotaped productions for organizations such as the Wildlife Conservation Society and The Floating Hospital since the late 1970’s. A native of New York City, John has worked on films from Africa to Alaska concentrating on subjects that illuminate human interaction with the natural world. His work has appeared on venues including most of the major networks, The Discovery Channel and National Geographic as well as National Public Radio.

Hilary McLellan: Hilary is a web designer and digital media producer, storyteller, writer, and educator. She has a Ph.D. in Educational Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has been involved with digital media for over 20 years. She has worked on a number of projects designing and evaluating educational media programs in science, health, and other areas. For over a decade, she has been a web designer and producer, designing websites, blogs, and other online applications. She is a founding member of the executive board of the Digital Storytelling Association. She has extensive experience developing and teaching classes and workshops online. She has helped to implement conferences on emerging media in New York City, San Jose, and London. Her background encompasses business, science, technology, and the arts.

Debra A. Pearlman: Debra received a BFA in photography and television from Emerson College. She honed her storytelling and technical skills working at VideoWorks, one of New York’s top post-production facilities, where she was part of the original MTV on-air promotions crew. Her other clients included television and cable stations, advertising agencies, music video producers and independent feature film producers. Debra went to northern New York, where she developed a niche shooting, editing and producing sports programming for ESPN, CBS, ABC, NBC, and HBO. She has worked with the 3 major networks and many of the cable and international broadcasters, including National Geographic, A&E, Discovery Channel, Natural History New Zealand, NHK Japan, and the BBC. Other awards include an Emmy Award for feature news editing and two Telly awards for production of the New York State Empire State Games Opening Ceremonies as well as special recognition and a merit award for Best Conservation Message at the International Wildlife Film Festival in 1995.

Roger B. Wyatt: Roger has an MFA in film-making from Columbia University and an Ed. D. in Information Technology from Teacher’s College. He is a filmmaker, media artist, and information scientist, with a passion for history. He has been involved with filmmaking and digital media for over 20 years. He is the co-author with Brian O'Connor of the book Photo Provocations. Roger Wyatt oversaw the film project documenting the restoration of the Statue Liberty during the early 1980s. He has written extensively for Videomaker, Smart TV, and other publications. He has extensive experience producing streaming media. And he has substantial experience developing and implementing virtual events, classes and workshops online.
